Jiang Rong a Chinese Author From Jiangsu

Jiang Rong a Chinese author beat four other selected Asian writers to win the Man Asian Literary Prize for his best-selling novel “The Wolf Totem. These four writers are Xu Xi of Hong Kong, Jose Dalisay Jr. of the Philippines, Indian author Reeti Gadekar, and Nu Nu Yi Inwa from Myanmar. Jiang, born in Jiangsu in 1946, spent 11 years living with nomadic communities in the Chinese border grassland region. Jiang said “I spent 30 years thinking, and six years writing, ‘Wolf Totem.’ During that process, I hoped to write a story that would appeal to the Chinese sensibility.” Wolf Totem by Jiang was first published in Chinese, it is a story about the struggle of life during the 1966-76 Cultural Revolution and draws on Jiang’s personal experience in the Mongolian grasslands. The English edition of this book will be published in the next year, probably in March.

The author of this story wants to tell readers that real love has an eternal quality that surpasses even death. He also gives readers hope that it is never too late to redeem our mistakes by giving love another chance. This novel is very well written, its dialogs are so real. “If only I could…” is a story of two mature lovers who try to recapture their lost romance, it’s a very good story, well placed, well worth reading, lovely, heartfelt tale of life-long love and second chances.

Look Me in the Eye by John Elder Robison

Robison is the elder brother of Augusten Burroughs author of Look Me in the Eye: My Life with Asperger’s. John Elder Robison is suffering from a disease called Asperger’s Disorder. He is genius as a tinker with cars and electrical engineer — one who designed flaming guitars for KISS and electronic games for Milton Bradley, and later he started a successful garage. Robinson can not see in the eyes, still he can fix broken amplifiers for rock groups, or restore Rolls Royce, like nothing. In an interview Burroughs says that his brother is a gifted storyteller whose tales are well worth hearing. There is a magic in his stories and people love to hear them.
